You have to be resident in Wales, and have a Welsh postcode, to see these resources for free. However, some resources are available without needing to register, such as:

  • Places of Wales – Search through more than 300,000 tithe maps of Wales, which give information about historical land ownership and use
  • Welsh Journals – Look through academic, scientific, literary and popular magazines relating to Wales published between 1735 and 2007
  • Welsh Newspapers Online – Access 15 million newspaper articles from across Wales, dating from 1804 to 1919, including the North Wales Weekly News, Western Mail and Llandudno Advertiser
  • Dictionary of Welsh Biography – Read over 5,000 biographies of people who have had a significant impact on national life, either in Wales or beyond. There’s an interactive timeline, or you can browse by surname
