Why has Conwy moved library systems?

The contract with our previous computer system supplier is ending and we were required to re-tender for this contract. This was undertaken on an all Wales basis, supported by Welsh Government. The outcome of this was that a different supplier will be providing the library management system when the current contract ends.

What should I expect?

From December 6^th to December 13^th 2024 the library system switchover will take place and there will be a short disruption to some library services.

• You will still be able to check out books at your local library but you will need your library card.
• You will still be able to use the public computers but you will need your library card number and PIN.
• Our digital resources such as Borrowbox and Pressreader should not be affected during this time as we are working to keep disruptions to a minimum.
• When the switchover is complete you may begin to receive SMS or email notifications about overdue books or requests, if you would prefer not to receive these then staff can turn this function off.
• Our public Wi-Fi will not be affected during this period.

During this period you will not be able to use the Conwy online catalogue to search books, reserve books or amend your account details.

Will there be any impact to library opening hours during this period?

No, libraries will remain open during the work for their usual opening hours.

Will I be able to return books and other items during the changeover?

You will be able to return books during this period but we do kindly encourage you to return them after December 13^th, there will be a grace period for any books overdue during the works. This will help our library staff manage the move and we thank you for your patience.

Will I be able to request items during the changeover?

No, requests cannot be made during these dates but any requests made before the changes will be carried over.

Will the self-service machines be working?

No, during this period of change the self-service machines will not be in use but staff can help with enquiries at the library desk.
